I have known Getachew for more than 2 decades now. He was a hardworking and a dedicated person to his craft as he is now. In Toulouse, France where I first met him, you would see him with his clarinet running between the Toulouse National Conservatory, his alma matter, and his apartment or practicing solo in school auditoriums. I was impressed then to notice his versatility in playing various musical instruments with perfection, from clarinet to piano and —.
I witnessed Getachew’ s exemplary dedication and professionalism again here in Los Angeles area through his teachings of music to his young students. He does not just teach the basics but he inculcates in the minds of his students the importance of hard work, discipline and most importantly helps them build confidence in their young mind. It is exhilarating to watch kids transform form no idea of music to performing at their graduation. Getachew is also a very generous person who will do anything for his students to attain their goals in music. In fact I am one of his friends who benefited from his generosity and desire to teach music. I am not surprised that Getachew has attained such a high recognition in his craft and have no doubt that he will continue to generate a cadre of young musicians with knowledge, solid skill sets and confidence.

Hi, Mr. Getachew,
We would like to express our deep appreciation for all you have done for our daughter in teaching her how to play piano. Cara started with you when she was at Nishi Center when she took the group piano class lessons when she was only 3 years old. Now Cara is 12 years old, and her progression with her piano skills has really advanced with her private lessons over the years. Cara is confident on stage, and her schoolwork, especially math, is strong. Cara was in accelerated math class in 6th grade and now in 7th grade. Much of her scholastic success in math can be attributed to her learning piano. She has learned discipline, time management, and perseverance while learning to play piano. All of these are life-long skills that she can use in the future.

Teacher Getachew is an outstanding music instructor. My family and I have had the privilege of having our three boys under his instruction and mentorship for the past six years. Our families have also developed a steadfast friendship through the years.
